Sera d’estate al Pincio, per organo

Date of composition: Rome, 6 June 2019
Duration: 5,5 min.
Dedication: A miei cari amici Gunhild e Anders per il loro matrimonio, 15 giugno 2019
Publisher:
First performance: 15 June 2019, Örgryte gamla kyrka, Gothenburg, Sweden (Johannes Landgren, organ)
About the piece: Pincio is a hill in Rome, northeast of Quirinale, close to Parco Villa Borghese. It is not one of the famous seven hills of Rome, but it is still within the Aurelian city wall. At the west end of the hill is a terrace, with the most beautiful view over Piazza del Popolo, Prati, the Vatican, and St. Peter’s Church, where I have spent a lot of time over the years, enjoying the ambience.
…..This quiet and beautiful place in the centre of Rome comes to life during the summer months, and the sunsets are breathtaking. The evenings in June are particularly delightful with the air scented by jasmine. It is one of my favourite spots in Rome and has inspired me to this piece, hence the title: Sera d’estate al Pincio, un affetuoso saluto da Roma (Summer’s Evening at Pincio, an affectionate greeting from Rome).
…..The music was composed for the wedding of Gunhild Vidén and Anders Wiklund, 15 June 2019, in Örgryte Gamla Kyrka, Gothenburg, Sweden.
